AUTO-GUIDED TRIPS

You wish to be on your own in paradise? We understand.  Because of the extreme isolation of Vertigo’s camp, auto-guided trips are only for clients of Vertigo who have done many trips with us.  These clients must have constantly shown an important knowledge of the territory as well as a strong understanding of snow stability principles.

Auto-guided trips are for groups ranging from 3 to 4 in size.  Transport by snowmobile is included.  Cooking, social life and sleeping is done in a heated prospector tent.  A camp ranger from Vertigo’s staff will be on site at all times, ready to intervene in case of an emergency.  Radios and a GPS with the important waypoints are provided.  At least one member of the party must have his proffessional operations avalanche level 1 and a backcountry first aid ticket.  All members of the group must be expert level backcountry skiers.

GEAR

Every participant must provide his backcountry ski gear which must hold; skis or splitboard, skins, boots, poles, helmet, gogles, backpack, water bottle, beacon, shovel and probe.  Also, participants must provide their sleeping bag, pillow, camp shoes and camp clothes (rental gear is available).

Participants are responsible for their food and drinks.  Note that all necessary cooking gear is available at the camp.  Drinking water is taken from a natural spring 200 m uphill from the camp.  Clients are free to treat the water if desired.
